We’re a small crew of gate specialists who work across Austin, from the steep driveways in Westlake to the gravel roads out near Dripping Springs. No rotating subcontractors. No dispatcher you’ll never meet again. The people who answer the phone, show up at your gate, and fix it are the same people you’ll see on a return visit if anything ever needs a second look. We came up working on gates in this city, and most of us have been doing it for a decade or more.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Nico Alvarez, Owner & Lead Gate Technician
Nico started Calder Gate Repair Austin after spending years watching gate companies in this city treat repair work like a guessing game. He’s the one who established the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and he’s the one who answers for it if a repair doesn’t hold. His hands-on work covers everything from snapped gate hinges in Round Rock to control board failures on LiftMaster operators in Cedar Park. Outside of gates, he’s been known to grill a brisket on Sundays and lose track of time entirely. He still shows up to job sites with a notebook, because he says no one remembers torque specs at 3 p.m. in August.
Maya R., Senior Gate Installer
Maya has been installing and rebuilding gates across Travis County for twelve years. She specializes in heavier custom steel gates and driveway slides, the kind that weigh more than most small cars and need to be hung perfectly or they’ll eat their own rollers within a year. She’s factory-familiar with FAAC and BFT hydraulic operators, which plenty of techs in this area won’t touch. On weekends she’s usually hiking the Barton Creek Greenbelt with her dog, a border collie who has never once been allowed near a closed-loop sensor.
Derek T., Service Coordinator
Derek is the voice you’re most likely to hear when you call (903) 354-7419. He’s been coordinating gate repairs in Austin for going on eight years, and he can usually tell the difference between a bad capacitor and a dead battery just from how you describe the clicking sound. He’s the one sending you the live arrival time and the digital invoice link. Off the clock, Derek restores old motorcycles and has strong opinions about breakfast tacos that he will share whether you ask or not.
Sam K., Apprentice Technician
Sam joined the crew two years ago after a stint running electrical conduit on commercial jobs, and he’s earned his way onto controller diagnostics for Ghost Controls and Mighty Mule systems. He handles a lot of the sensor alignment and safety edge replacements, the jobs that need patience more than brute force. He keeps a notebook in the truck with every model number he’s worked on, and he can tell you the difference between a 2009 and a 2015 Linear board without looking up. Sam’s the one who remembers to bring cold water for the whole crew in July, which makes him more popular than he knows.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this crew follows the same three rules, no exceptions and no shortcuts. First, you get a written price before any work starts, and the number on that paper is the number you pay. Second, every repair carries a written guarantee under the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the repair fails within a full year, Calder returns at no charge for a second visit. Third, you’ll get the Relay Standard on every booking: a live arrival time you can track, before-and-after photos so you can see exactly what was done, and a digital invoice you pay from a link. Nico holds every technician to those rules, including himself. The crew in Austin doesn’t cut corners because the promise is written down, and because the next visit is free if we get it wrong.
